IL2 Sturmovik 1946, re-installed and not working!
Hey all, Been trying all week and last weekend to reinstall my IL2 1946 DVD so I too could enjoy the latest patches. The problem is after installing Sim and without installing any additional patches or add-on's, the game loads fine. But when in the quick mission builder, I tried to click on a aircraft to view and change skin, it will make the "clicking" sound, but not leave menu. And yes, I did have at least one aircraft checked off in the side bar of menu. Also, when I try to just go to any Single mission and fly, I get a "Mission loading failed: Landscape' FinsGulf/load.ini' loading error" pop up. It will do it no matter what country or map is being loaded. I tried using Revo uninstaller, but still not working. Last week, this sim was working just fine with all add-ons. Yes, I know, I should have backed it up. But hard drive space is limited. Please, can someone give me any suggestions on what to do? Do you think I should wipe out my hard drive and start fresh? Is it possibly Something not getting deleted? I am so... so.... so....., well you get the idea. Welcome any and all suggestions. Thanks to all, Joe, (aka, the "Taint")
PS: I have done a virus scan and nothing is infected.
Update: Try installing it to another directory, somewhere else. As suggested from another forum. Results: Just got done what you had suggested and the results are the same. Now if I click on an aircraft like the FM-2 a few times, it will show up in the menu. But that's it. When I start the QMB, I get the map error. If I click on it again, I get some type of "Russian paratrooper" error or "pilot mat" missing. Weird stuff. Seems like something was left behind from one of the add-on's either from AAA or SAS. Any other idea's? And thank you for replying to my post too.
So you all can see my delema. This sim will not run at all. Like I said earlier, it worked fine until 409m was released. I knew I needed a new install so everything was deleted and new install was performed. It seems like something has been is this in my hard drive from previous installed mods. I welcome any and all suggestions here. Thanks to all, Joe P. (aka, the "Taint")
