Default Fixed the New Patch/Game - Sticky me?

Forget it. Doesnt work. Single players ok but MP is porked. - READ WHOLE POST.

Ok due to the patch I was having lock ups and CTD's every 10 mins... It was unplayable.

Ok here is how I fixed my game. DO NOT START THE GAME UNTIL YOU HAVE FINISHED!
  1. Uninstalled my antivirus.
  2. Verified the integrety of the game cache via steam, this revertedc the game back to latest offical.
  3. Deleted cache folder in 1csoftclub - yes the enitire folder!
  4. Turned Steam Synch cloud off for Clod.
  5. Disabled steam community for clod.
  6. Redownloaded the patch from Airwarfare (incase my patch was corrupted) Install it!
  7. Extract the game with winrar thus: aim the unpack at the steam/common/apps/cliffs of dover folder.... DO NOT unpack it and copy the files in your self. Dont ask me why. You wont get prompted to overwrite if you have done this right.

My game now works flawlessly at 60 fps - Avg, min and max. Ive just loaded a single mission with collisions off and let the plane bounce around for an hour. Came back its still working. CEM was off also, so maybe this is a bug I might encounter later.

Heres the bad news - you will have to remapp all controls...

Im running an 4.2Ghz ASUS processor with 8Gb DDR 3 ramm, Asus EAH HD 6850, Win7 64 bit, TrackIR, Latest AMD drivers.

Why do you have to remap all controls?

Unless you're clever and saved the controls to specific files (i.e. I have a specific control file for flying the Bf 109 and one for the Ju 87), copied those to another folder and then reinalled it.

Controls are stored in confUser.ini IIRC but I save them as a different file for backup. It is also possible to back up the whole Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover folder before reinstall.

Everyone seems to have their own "this fixed it" method for launcher crashes. I hate to say it but at this point it's just superstition and speculation until we know what causes it.

Testing different settings will definitely help the process of finding the cause but until a method or fix is tested by many users and proven to work, don't expect something like this to be a miracle fix.

For example, I don't even have an anti virus on my machine and I still get crashes, so that first step is null. I've verified my local files multiple times with no effect. Deleted my cache folder with no effect. Haven't tried disabling the steam cloud/community thing, but I'd be very shocked if that has anything to do with gameplay as I'm pretty sure that stuff isn't actively doing anything during/just before a launcher crash, but I haven't tried so its obviously worth a shot. And the method you copy the files to the cliffs of Dover folder is kind of straightforward...you either copied the files to the right place and overwrote the applicable ones or you didn't. There's no correct/more correct way to do it.

My guess is the reason CloD is crashing has to do with a memory leak, which I'm not sure we can do anything about, or an issue with aircraft LOD models, as I've noticed, along with many others, that crashes seem to happen while approaching/leaving other aircraft...queuing the game to call in the different level-of-detail (LOD) models as they get closer/farther.

My guess is that during your 3 hour test flight, you didn't encounter any aircraft to transition LODs, nor were you online, which is the only place I get crashes. It could also be affected by your low video settings, which could be a factor.

A?

My cloud and Sync have always been off and I have still kept my controls after a file check and cache clean
