I understand what you're saying, BigC, but there's really no incentive for the company to do this. Firstly, it will take a lot of work over and above the workload for Moscow (backward converting), and secondly, everyone will buy Moscow anyway. They'll say they won't, but they will.

Thanks mate (Novotny). Now given that you've probably contributed more than anyone else to this thread, is it perhaps time for you to re-read your initial post and then ask yourself, is this a cry for help?

Some people place way to much importance on video games and their own, personally-perceived importance within these virtual gaming forums.

There are many papers on this, but what you are seeing is the result of disassociation: some guys have so little impact on the world around them that shouting about video games - and getting a response from other depressives - is the only validity they get in day-to-day life.

Can you imagine how shit life must be if ranting about a video game is important to you?

Yeah - pretty shit. Normal people get upset about their families, or their careers. Some get upset about politics.

Our guys, though - they spend hours getting upset about minor things in a video game.

And now, now they're hearing that no-one cares, or will listen any more. No more fixes.

Cue /more/ bug threads and /more/ sarcastic comments designed to somehow legitimise their ongoing obsession.

Guys/girls: give it up. Being a loudmouth on a virtual forum - one that'll not be here in ten years time - will not improve your life. It'll ruin it. You're destroying it already. There's so much you could do! Why not learn to fly a real ******* plane? Shave your ass? Visit somewhere you've never been before? Learn something about common human decency?

I'm going to hang around for a bit and **** with the usual low-life that live here, because it might amuse me.
Hilarious!
I actually feel tempted to sig parts of your post.

Um, no. GUI = is the interface (menus etc), graphics engine is how planes/atmosphere/ground etc is drawn in game. A new GUI does not mean a new graphics engine. We have apparently already had one of them.

(I think the above situation, is what Luthier meant by "creepy"

CLoD, at release, had an engine which was replaced not that long ago... CLoD, final patch, runs the new engine

BoM, Sequel (not patch) will be (is expected that there should be, at least) further inprovements to that new engine, which was re- written for CLoD

err A change in the GUI (Graphical User Interface... not graphics engine)

GUI, is just pictures/ icons/ buttons instead instead of 2 foot long DOS commands

Hilarious, +1.

And I think that going forward, alot of the behaviors that have made this forum just about unbearable are not going to be tolerated:

From nearmiss:

It would be nice to be able to come here and just read/talk about gameplay, and the future of the series.

Are you really really sure you should laugh at others for not having a life?

The GUI system was introduced back in 1995 which was a big advance for programmers. A change in the GUI (Graphics Engine) is why the sequel won't be backwards compatible with C.o.D. The planes maps etc, from C.o.D. will be transfered into the sequel and because of the change in the GUI programming anything from the sequel won't go in reverse.

As others have said the GUI is just the menus, picking loadouts, planes and missions.
We have already seen screen shots of the sequel running the same engine as we have now, it might get tweaked but its the same engine as COD.

Can you find the quote where Luthier said were getting a new "graphics engine" for BOM?

Edit
Found the quote i think your on about...

11. Will the aircraft loads GUI be fixed for the CoD patch/BoM sequel (and in which)?

Luthier- "Completely redoing the entire GUI for the sequel"
