Would

"Xyz rendered the tail gunner unsuable"

satisfy you?

No, murder implies a plan, an intention to kill s.o.
It would be manslaughter, which makes me think we should call it:
...slaughtered tail gunner.

Then again it's bs.
As an ex tank commander I can tell you we have the full intention to kill the enemy tank's crew and not the tank per se.
Why should you judge pilots different?
Why did so many pilots explicit aim for the cockpit?

Exactly....it's not like infantry try to shoot the weapons out of the enemy's hands, to make the shots count you have to take the person out.

"Punctured in several places" sounds politically correct

Being an ex tank commander myself when engaging infantry we always aimed at their cartridge belts to make them unserviceable.

well people should know what theyre doing even if its virtual

nobody forces us to shoot after all

edit:

life has misterious ways:

five years ago i made a post in the ubizoo saying it should appear a message saying MURDER when you killed someone since it was your choice to kill him without need

i was called troll but trully i was being a pionner

edit:

as an english filologist ill add that murder come from mordrod from the arthurian legends, and shooting someone from his six is like backstubbing

assesinate comes from hachis, the subsatnce with which certain arab assasins got rewarded with
