No response from ubi support. I have searched for the solution on simHQ, ubi zoo...nothing. Even went through russian forums...no solution.

Although I did notice that the window isn't in fact frozen, it's just not displaying UI as it should.

I forgot to post this here:

IF you bought the game off Steam as I did, you will need to:

1) Browse to your game folder and find the folder 'redist'.

I found mine here :C:\Program Files\Steam\steamapps\common\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\redist

2) Try running the Direct X installer*. ( This was the problem for me, but I had tried running other installers in there too).
It worked for me. Note that I tried ALL installers in this folder, restarted, and it worked.

*look for the DXSETUP file.

Unfortunately this doesn't work for me - you said you could get to the menu though, so our problems are probably different

I had the same problem only i have a hard copy CE. I got nothing, hard drive would start to work then nothing.
I was told that on board sound can effect some games (C97 realtek)
I went and got a USB head set and I got into the game (menus)
The game loaded but i got black screen, but sound is there, I then upgraded GFX card driver to the suggested 270.51 now when game loads it goes back to windows screen with no mouse.

I have similar specs to you guys core2 3ghz Nvidia 860gtx

Think i will get sound card next and disable onboard.

Interesting, thanks. I do have onboard sound but don't have a soundcard to test with. I'll be glad to know what you find out!

Hmmm, there are a few extras(like Direct X, .Net 4 client etc), that SHOULD auto-run on installing the game, but seem to not work properly in the Steam version.

I wonder if they are causing issues on the DVD version too?

Can you browse to the folders/files on your DVD? There maybe a way to try and run the installers from there.

I have also added launcher.exe(CoD) into my Nvidia Control panel under: Manage Settings/Program Settings, where I changed CUDA-GPUs to ALL>Use These GPUs> GT330M(my video card). I also turned THreaded Optimisation to -ON, but left everything else. Not sure if that did much, but I can fly over water OK.

That's all I got sorry.

I think that the steam version might not have downloaded some files, like shaders. Can someone with a working copy of CoD locate their shaders folder so we can compare it?

We should really get help from 1C, how can we get their attention on this?

While people are complaining about lag issues, we can't even get the friggin game to start and it's been 4 days since purchase...
