this week we celebrate and give honor to the veterans who served, suffered, and sacrificed that we may enjoy our freedoms. this weeks movie reflects that. though its not an airwar flick it portrays the battle in the pacific that has images etched in our memories. And who better to exemplify this than John Wayne. so for Veteran's day i present to you....

THE SANDS OF IWO JIMA

welcome to this weeks episode of BoP TV1. when i was a kid movies often started with a cartoon or a short feature. i have yet to find a suitable cartoon ( tho i will ) but i did find a very nice short new reel to kick off this weeks show....a clip of the RAAF in P40s

http://www.youtube.com/watch?NR=1&v=BNYuq67uf4E

and now for the main event...and to keep you thirsty for Birds of Steel... a movie VERY, VERY loosely based on Pappy Boyington and the squad he flew with. Facts go down in flames faster than Jap Zeros....BUT it is entertaining. So i give you...

This week we have a foreign film...well foreign for most of us anyways. Its a movie loosely based on the first Yugoslav Partizan air force unit. i have yet to view this but I am sure the acting is top notch and special effects will dazzle.... so without any further distractions...

Battle of the Eagles

Brilliant Dale. Awesome plane-casting and use of pyrotechnics! A true historic footprint of the 70's there

This week’s episode has numerous interruptions but is worthwhile watching. The B 25 is one of the bombers i would love to see in BoS...just so we could recreate the Doolittle Raid scenario.... when I was in Ida, Louisiana at the 357th Museum over Veteran's day they had a celebration which included a catfish diner. There were 3 pilots from the 357th there and among the other veterans was a gentleman who flew with Doolittle on this famous raid. It was an honor to see him in person.
