special encounter difficulty and game progress

does the difficulty of some special encounters (like the out of control mage staff in the tower near the starting area) depend on how many kings quests you have done?
I played that tower fight twice with different chars and it seemed alot tougher when i had completed the rage chest quest.
Same thing for the mage arena test in the same area.

Or does it depend on char level?

You battled the Staff before completing the chest of rage quest?

NO,its not depended on anything, its pretty hard and not doable on low levels.

Lol, but in fact you can delay a lot the rage chest quest and do many thing before and level up quite a lot. At normal difficulty, you could perhaps reach an ok level to do it before the rage chest quest.

it was my first game and i had no idea what the chest was. thought it was just a regular quest item so i did verlon forest as the last one of the starting areas.
