Default ps3 vs 360 demo impression / personal opinion

*disclaimer*

- Not wanting to start a war which console is best.
- Don't own fancy equipment which tells me how much AA is applied and where. Just my own eyes and the pause button. No doubt sites like eurogamer.net will do a technical head2head in a few weeks. But i'm not going to wait that long =)
- Too old to be called a (fan) boy. I favor the ps3 since i think it's a better machine. But i own more games for my 360. Like to think i'm fairly unbiased.
- I do know the ps3 demo has a few bits of brightness set while the 360 version hasn't. Adjusted it on the ps3 so it's identical to the 360 version.

Both consoles are hooked up to a 40" (1080p) sony bravia of about one year old with identical hdmi cables.

To begin with the conclusion. Think the game looks great on both consoles.

I have been staring at the screen from about 2" for some time now and i don't see that the ps3 has more 'jaggies' than the 360 version. Ofcourse i know normally the 360 has more AA than the ps3 in most games. So why not here? Maybe it does, i'm not really seeing it tho. (with racedriver GRID you could easily see that when the game was paused. But once in action it just became a high speed blur =)).

On the ps3 there seems to be abit more screen tearing. Esp when low to the ground the 360 version seems to be abit more capable of holding it all together.

The biggest difference i see, esp on the Dover lvl, is that on the ps3 version some grass is really abit too green. Played around with the brightness abit, but it stays abit too artificial. It's not a gamebreaker and maybe it has to do with my television. Asked the expert (colour) advice of my wife and see agrees. Who can argue with that?

This isn't like the Orange box where the ps3 was a shame and the 360 was pretty good. It's also isn't like Burnout Paradise where you would have to gues wich version you where seeing. I do think the 360 demo is slightly better looking, but mainly because of the grass.

Your ideas? (maybe you have better eyes than me =))

copy paste from another thread:

-screen tearing on PS3, not on 360.
-PS3 seems to run at a lower resolution than the 360 version.
-It seems there's less anti-alias on the PS3 version.
-No slow-downs when flying through smoke on the PS3 version, lots of slow-down on the 360 version.
-PS3 version seems to have a slightly lower fps.

still going for the PS3 version since over the past year-and-a-half I've grown a hatred towards microsoft...

I can assure you, that screen resolution and anti-aliasing are the same on both consoles.
X360 and PS3 are different platforms, and render is not the same for them. but resolution is something more measurable.
Anti-aliasing is the same quality on PS3 and X360, differencies can be only by differencies of video chips on them.

Can you tell us what the true resolution is for the PS3?

As well as for X360, 3d rendering resolution is 720p, AA level is also 2x for both platforms.
Of course, consoles have different chips, different AA algortihms (don't know which is the name for 360, but it is called Quincunx for PS3 (some guys assumes Quincunx is better than 360 version, I personally can hardly see the difference)), etc.
But stop speculations about 'real resolution is different'. It is not GTA4, so no guessing. They are the same.

3d-rendering - definetly gets upscaled to 1080 (because it's rendered in 720).

Hello all, my first post here. I want to compliment the developer of BoP with the outstanding achievement. The game is simply breathtaking and totally immersive., i just can't stop playing the demo over and over again. Besides the X360 version of the demo that i already play for 2 weeks now, i also downloaded the PS3 version today. I absolutely notice the screentearing on the PS3 version (It causes a wave like pattern) which is not present in the X360 version. Besides the tearing they seem to look identical. I will purchase the 360 version as it runs silky smooth.

PS I own all current videogame systems and i am not biased towards a particular system.

well i have been a lover of flying games for a long time going back to "fighter bomber" on the ZX Spectrum - Check out these graphics young peeps.

http://www.lemon64.com/games/popup_s..._bomber_02.gif

This game feels like an awful lot of love has gone into it, i had no expectations for this game, but am completely blown away by it. I have pre-ordered it already. I hope its a huge success (i am looking forward to this more than the batman AA collectors edition that i have had on pre-order since april).

so thanks Devs for what i am sure will be a landmark game for consoles.

Anton I am seeing the screen tearing on the ps3 demo when looking around the cockpit, is this a fluke in my download because some people are not seeing this?
