So the grey icon means that its been damaged enough to force it to abort its mission. Can anybody confirm this?
I think that might be ture. I just did a test and noticed that if you make a plane have a fuel leak the icon will dissapear. I discovered this in the lasttraining mission when I had to shoot down the group of bombers at the end. I shot one and its icon dissapeared and it had a fuel leak. I flew right next to it for a while and I noticed it left the formation and turned around heading for england. While it was doing that it was losing airspeed and losing altitude. When reached england it was really low and I had to fly really slow to stay with it. It then crashed into river. I think it was runnin low on fuel because of the leak and tried to crah land in england. I shocked at how the pilot reacted. I never thought if they had a fueld leak they would try to crash land instead of trying to go back to france.
