Using AI wingmen buttons for something else?
One thing I was surprised at is the fact that the D pad is used exclusively for wingman commands.
havent experimented with the demo, but one of IL2 faults was the fairly poor wingman AI. Its not one of its strongest features, and I never could get much satisfaction out of commanding my wingmen.
maybe it would be better if wingman commands were secondary or omitted and the d-pad could be used for more flight controls, like flaps, or prop pitch or even engine on/off
one cool thing with the HOTAS X52 was the use of the clutch button. Basically you could use one of the triggers on the 360 controller as a clutch, and when pressed the functions of the rest of the buttons alter.
you can easily double the number of buttons.
maybe would ruin the arcade experience and over complicate mind you
