Default Damage Model?

is it me or is the damage model a bit off, it feels like it has been dumbed down. a good example is that most of the time the ends of the wings of the He-111 just seem to pop off when u fire a burst into them, even if its not aimed at the wing. i havent seen a tail section fall off yet, or rudder and elevator sections fall off. this used to be common occurence in the old IL-2 sim.

No need to get touchy. You can't improve a game without helpful criticism/good input.

Damage model includes ailerons and rudder damaging. As well as wing controls, engine, oil, and fuel banks, etc, etc

i only pointed this out because the developers said it was based on the il-2 damage model, so i persumed i would see these things that is all. the planes either go down in a ball of flames or a wing comes off and it crashes.

i havent seen alierons, rudders & elevator parts, landing gear or wingtips come off yet, but maybe i need to play more. are the damage models different for each difficulty level?

the rest of the game is beautiful and plays well, im only concerned with this aspect.

Yes, I noticed it too. Look, this BOP has nothing to do with the original IlL2. Many missing sounds, simplified damage compared to IL2 1946 and many many other missing features. But I think this BOP deserves a buy and I tell you why. It is the very first simulator ever made on consoles so maybe if sales are good and Mr Anton and his publisher like it, we could have a more realistic sim next time.

I think they are making an experiment to see if a simulator can be sold like any other game else. If things go well we could see a brighter future for simulation on consoles and we could demand a better product next time.

I could tell you many missing features from BOP but I think it would be unfair to compare BOP with a 8 years old polish product like IL2 1946 is.

If you like flight simulators buy BOP and give it a try because with our buy we are already building a better future for simulation on consoles. Who knows, maybe Anton could become the next Oleg Maddox for console simulation. .

Are you playing in sim mode? It makes it a lot more difficult to cause damage. In arcade mode the planes just wet themselves & fall out of the sky when they hear gunfire

I have shot off the tail of a bomber, have had oil splattered all over my screen from a good strafe, and have seen a Stuka drastically lose speed and control but still flying and firing. The damage model is definitely one of the most advanced I have seen on a console.

I've shot the tail off an HE 111 several times and got my wing sheared off once by a flying tail section.

I have shot off the talils of bombers and I have made them leak oil. Once I got into a doghight with an ME 109 and after I put some big holes in it it slowed down went into a tailspin and crashed.

I enjoyed the damage model as well.

I have even broken off my landing gear and have done prop strikes for fun.

They only thing I don't like however, is the instant explosion from hitting the ground even if a make a reasonably good belly landing. And when I do make a belly landing, the plane explodes as soon as it comes to a stop.

*pppppppsssssshhhhhhhhh* Phew! That was a close..*BOOM!*
