Game freezes every time I press Esc

Runs great no probs at all. Even maxed at 2560x1600. However, it locks up everytime I press Esc. I can skip cinemas ussually but in game I can never press it. Locks up 100%.

My specs are

i7 920 @4.2
2x BFG 295 GTX
Vista Ultimate SP2

Any thoughts?
