Well, I´m not worried about the date of release.
As long Oleg aproaches from ending the work, the release date becomes more and more clear.
So, if he now says that something about mid 2010-october 2010 will be the release date , we have to believe this time, guys.
Just because the margin for error is shorter this time,Tree.
18 months is a good time for us to be able to buy more powerful CPU and GPU in affordable prices (Nvidia will launch GT 300 later this year for example)
Beacause we don´t want to play a beauty like that at 8 fps , that´s for sure.
Il2 was playable with the harware of 2001, but I remember that I used to play at 800x600 at the time, and as long my screen goes up, my resolution is now 1680 x1050 now, and I´m probably starts to playing SOW at 1920x1200.
That´s probably will demands a lot.
So, let´s calm down, 12-18 months will pass in a hurry.

The recent postings in this thread are funny.

The only thing that is going to make people happy is when SOW is on the retailer shelves.

Oleg made an effort, give him credit for that.

Well, I'm delighted to have some sort of confirmation that things are still moving along.

You know better than that, nearmiss. Then the REAL whining starts. This is the on deck circle of whining.

Are you saying we'll get Boom and Zoom whiners that will appear a few weeks after release?

The fact is that we have not seen one single officially released within-game-engine screenshot or video from this project.

None of the screenshots that we have ever seen have been from within the game engine. All the screenshots have been within an asset viewer which may or may not represent the final quality of the graphics in the game engine. Be that as it may, we have no screenshots from within the game engine.

As to the video, we have video from years ago showing what I think you best be characterized as something pre-alpha. Heck, I think we had supposed SOW video included with the IL2-1946 DVD which was at least 2 years ago. More recent video we have seen of cockpit interiors with controls moving is also not within the game engine.

So we have effectively have no in-game video as the engine must have changed substantially in the intervening time, and we have had no in-game screenshots. These are the facts as I know them to be.

While I can appreciate that the project expanded in its scope over time and also contracted apparently in other areas, the fact that more of everything (i.e. content) will be included than was previously stated is not encouraging. If the engine is finished and they are waiting on content, how is it that we have not seen a single example of what content they do have from within the actual game engine?

While I am sure the remark that there will be 17 planes and not 11 is thought by most to be exceedingly positive, it sounds like a pacifying excuse to me. "We're giving you more planes. You can wait another year, right?"

By their own admission, they underestimated the complexity and the effort to needed to address that complexity in creating the new game engine. What's to say that they have a handle on things now considering we have never seen any in-game screenshots or video?

Like Ilya said, "The proof is in the pudding". I've seen the recipe, been told someone's cooking it, and been shown the pretty box it came in, but until I can smell it being made or get a taste, I have no more confidence in this project than I did before this interview.
Fuss if you will. I don't blame Oleg for a bad interview. Afterall, an interview is no better than the interviewer.

The interviewer might have done better to put up a pre-interview discussion thread so he could interview with other viewpoints other than his own.

We should have had some of the chickens from the VIEW, cluck, cliuck, cluck

Alright chaps listen up: regardless of our differences, be they political or religious, geographical or just in-your-face-fascisms, we all need to recognise the importance of immediately invading whatever country allowed THAT televisual broadcast to happen.

I don't even know where to begin. Congenital harpies on TV? Considered entertainment? Enlightenment?

Someone help me

When we start seeing ingame videos and constant updates & marketing we'll know the release is within reach, until then just stay frosty the game ain't just gonna pop out of nowhere and say: "hey it's release in a month".

I think in truth that even the most brown nosed supporters of Oleg would be disappointed with the interview, especially after waiting 5 months for an update. For me there was nothing new (apart from the crap fort), i would certainly not call it an update.
