Everywhere I try to search for it I either get the answer that there was some sort of demo version of PhysX for ATI last fall which has since been revoked, or that there will never be a PhysX driver for ATI.

I'm not too used to tamper with drivers and such things so I might sound stupid, (which I'm not) but I can't wrap my mind around this. So some detailed instructions, maybe?
You can download the driver here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/physx_9.09.0408_whql.html
This driver can be used with ATI cards.
