There is already a penalty.

Say you shoot down one single engine fighter and then:

1) You get shot up and bail out or are shot up and killed. You get 10 points.

2) You land but you stuff up the landing and parts of your plane are strewn all about. 50 points.

3) You land properly with your plane intact and your crew chief is happy with you. You get 100 points.

Many people who jump online haven't practiced flying. They are interested in combat only. Taxiing, taking off, landing, carrier traps, trimming planes, using gunsights and bombsights, and so forth are ignored for a while. Until they learn.
