Default Any plans to release CoD without DRM?

So CoD is apparently dead now (I guess I'm quite late to the party...) and I've just started to look into it. I was going to buy it (despite some of the things I've heard about it), but then I found out it used Steamworks DRM. Does anyone know if there are any plans to release a DRM-free (or less-DRM-full) version of CoD at some point? If it was released on GoG or even D2D I'd likely pick it up pretty quickly (depending on the price, of course). I just don't see any reason to pay $20 or so for a game which is apparently not that great and uses Steamworks DRM.

Also, while I'm here - how come CoD is no longer supported, yet Il-2 1946 is still being patched more than a decade on? I'm looking forward to the 4.12 patch for it, but I'm confused about why CoD will have no more patches after only 1.11. Different devs? Different publisher? Same everything, but the game sucks so bad that they've dropped it and ran?

You are right, this is the official forum of Cliffs of Dover.
SlipBall linked to a different website of a different Second World War flightsim currently being developed (probably not released before end of 2014).

To my knowledge, there is no planning to make Cliffs of Dover run without Steam. Personally, I am a friend of the Steam plattform, but this is another topic.

Thanks to the guys of Team Fusion who have published an amazing first version of their community patch (see the thread in this forum or official Team Fusion forum) that fixes a lot of technical limitations of the game and adds great new content, I regard Cliffs of Dover as quite alive. In addition there is an enthusiastic online community on popular servers like ATAG or SOW with up to 100 pilots flying simultaneously.

Especially, if you like flying online with and against human pilots in a very realistic flight simulation and have a capable computer at home, I strongly recommend Cliffs of Dover.
Just try it out - for under $10 not much to think about.

DUI is correct!

Clod is not dead at all. Its just a huge secret! Its so good we want it all to ourselves!

Team Fusion has made a mod / community patch! - its very good! Plenty of servers with life on every night, ATAG and Storm of War. Also Ravenhost for those that dont like full realism settings. Something for everyone! There are also online wars between units too! But like I said, we dont want to many people to join our paradise because it will ruin it!

The game itself is 1/3rd of the original cost! - just buy it!

Blacksix may not come here any longer

I was aware of the ATAG mod, but I didn't realise there was a community patch. I didn't realise the community was still going to support this - that's very good news indeed!

Damn, I hope they will consider it later. I prefer to not have games which require Steam (unless they're really cheap), since I tend to move around a lot and am without internet for long stretches (you can only use Steam offline mode for 30 days after your last online log in). Plus, if anything ever happens to Steam (or they randomly ban my account - not likely, I know), I'd just rather have the game for myself, rather than having to rely on Steam working.

Where can I get it for under $10? I looked around, but the lowest I found was $14. I know that I missed out on a lot of sales where it was selling for $5 or so Where is the cheapest place to get it currently? I'm definitely going to buy it, now that I know the community is going to support it

Uh...it costs $49.99 USD on Steam (I'm in Australia, so it's probably just the usual terrible regional pricing we get - charging us in USD, but still raising the price anyway). But I checked on the US Steam and it doesn't even seem to have CoD on there

Is there anywhere else that I can get it cheap?
