Dev team need money.
You have a nice Su-26 ingame, and your game engine supports really nice some small airplanes flying with good performance and visuals, in small maps. MP too! Why not think about some official Air Races series sequel? Just need to create some simple maps, circuits, some new objects and not so hard C stuff... People can hit me now with sticks and rocks, talking about "resourses", but i'm a huge WWII air combat sim fan, and love to ride the Su-26 too! To me sounds like an "easy" way to make more money, using few resources, and creating an amazing product with a new and maybe expanded potential market... And i believe you already think about that... ![]() Last edited by LoBiSoMeM; 10-04-2012 at 08:32 PM. |

I actually talked with Oleg M about that, back when he was still in charge of CoD... Doing a "Red Bull Races" sim should be a good way to earn some doe to finance further work on the historical sims... Or even better, let another developer use the sim engine and do it.

Good idea. "Resources" just boils down to money available so anything that brings more in is good. And it would be fun too!

do you guys really think, that a pure air race sim could be successfull and profitable?
i think most people who fly flight sims are either interested in civilian or combat flight sims...or both...and of course at least some of them enjoy such air races as well...but i think that the customers who would buy plain air race sim would be an even smaller niche. but still, if there really is the customer base for it, why not! |

I am not sure about this but licenses to aircraft and tracks and red bull air race stuff would cost them a lot of money. Maybe they could create red mule air race with aircraft that would look different than their real life counterparts but with correct FM or cooperate with red bull air race to create some official promotional sim.

Some don't see the fun about just flight from point A to point B, or "chase dots" in our loved combat sims. With some smoke, speed, low level flight, sense of speed, sport, maybe a new gang join us, some "gamers", people who like racing games... and when this new people face that it's a flight sim and flight sims can be have much fun... ![]() |

I prefer combat missions, but as a sort of break, we made a bunch of race tracks back in IL2:FB. Was lots of fun and some courses were very challenging. Sometimes, we'd even grab a plane with weak machine guns and have lap 2 of 3 as "guns hot".
Alot of people are quite creative in this community and will make races possible in time. Hell, in the last IL2, the dev's even gave us race pylons (red and blue) aswell as start and finish markers. I've even seen hints of code that has penalties for missing a "gate" in a Clod video. No need to create a race game, cuz the community will end up creating their own, right here in Clod. |
