sadly the problem with the TH2G is still its limited resolutions in a 3 monitor setup (max rez = 3 x 1280 x 1024, being equal to the resolution of 3x 19' lcd's), and the fact it still doesnt allow 3 digital widescreen LCD's to be used together (unless you run them at non native display resolutions). using 3x CRT's will give you a similar display to 1x 30' lcd, so not being able to use 3x widescreen lcd's is a problem with the matrox units, a single large lcd will give you a similar display area with much less hassle or cost involved.
as the previous poster mentioned, using 3x CRT's side by side with all FoV's set to 90 also produces an odd visual distortion, because the 3 monitors dont cover 3x 90 degrees of your physical field of view. setting the FoV to 30 for 3x 20 or 21' crt's would more accurately represent the total 90 FoV they represent in real life, which means that you'd fly with a 90 FoV setting in total (ie each crt would display a 30 FoV in il2), which represents the same physical display area as a single 30' lcd. so we come full circle again, the matrox units really need higher resolutions and true widescreen support to make best use of them. my hope is that oleg will include a better version of "userender=3" option in BoB, compared to the limited version we currently have in il2 (which has some odd bugs like the flashing black cube on the left monitor). we can then use multiple gfx cards in our pc's to display 3x true widescreen lcd resolutions, without needing additional hardware like the matrox unit (and its display limitations). modern high end pc's with 2 good ati/geoforce cards could push the required pixels for 3x 1920x1200. the question is... does oleg realize this is an important feature to include ? (similar question can be asked about devicelink). i would prefer one less flyable plane (like drop one of the italian models from the initial BoB release), and have his coders work on features that significantly increase/improve immersion on modern high end pc's.
