I've run Forgotten Battles in 'Perfect' mode since way back when I had an Athlon XP 2800+, 1Gb of memory and an Ati 9800Pro 128Mb graphics card, so I don't think it's necessarily CPU-related.
That said, I've seen a lot of improvement since I started using dual-core processors and more powerful g-cards. You could be suffering from mis-matched drivers, too many background processes running, heat-related issues and so on. I suggest using the community help forum at Ubi-forums. Post your dxdiag readout and a copy of your conf.ini file there, and give some detail of OS, drivers, monitor resolution etc. There are plenty of people reading that forum who can help you. B
