Default Can i have 2 versions of CLod working on my gaming machine?

I'm hearing all the good .. and bad things about the latest patches, and want to contribute / test but don't want to overwrite my current version which is working fine.

Can I somehow, set up a second test version of Clod on my computer, through steam, and have both legal and completely seperate ?

Thanks

I'm pretty sure if I'm not mistaken that you can just swap over the folder named parts.... One in its original state and one bearing all the New patch file's. Just take out and drop on the one you want to run

You don't really need a copy of a separate version.

You can install the beta patch any time by unpacking the rar file in the main game folder.

Then, if at any point you wish to go back to the latest official patch just open your Steam library, right click on the CoD icon and select "properties". In there, navigate to the "local files" tab and click on "verify integrity of local cache".

This will compare all game files with the official patch and if anything is different, it will download it again and replace it. Essentially, it gets you back to the latest official version, removing the beta patch from your installation.

As blackdog said.. that's an easy and convenient way to get your game back to its official state, but that takes time...you could have a number of parts folders each with the various stages of patch... All you'd have to do is name them so you know which is witch and take it out of the game directory and replacee it with the folder version that you'd want to run... Of course remembering to keep the correct name (parts) of the folder you want to use

The answer is yes, I have four versions of CoD running on my PC.

The original version is the one you have inside your STEAM directory. This is the one that always gets updated automaticaly by STEAM.

Take that whole directory and copy it to another area of your hard disk. you can change the name of the directory as you like (e.g. I rename the directory as per the Version number I have).

In order to play:
#1. Make sure STEAM is running on the background
#2. Go to the directory with the version you want to run and start Launcher.exe

RGDS,

Yes : as for me one game installation and 3 versions (official with Steam, last two patches). Thanks JSGME ! Switching easily to a version to an other. Just have to take care to clear the cache.
