Thanks for that, Phat - it's nice to read something positive from someone who has some insight in the business

Someone did his homework

BTW ... still stand the 3-way Projected Screen ?

That photo looks that it will be a nice screen but to be sure I guess that is better test it in a white screen like a cloth or something before make the plexiglass screen, to look exactly how looks and make adjusts in size for example.

Having said that, the Russian IT economy is through the worst of it. At the height of the GFC in 2009 RU IT revenues were DOWN by as much as 50% but they now have a different problem. Coping with the demand and growth and providing enough skilled IT workers, particularly around programming. 1C also bought a 51% stake in a cloud computing company Megaplan for their enterprise products.

No doubt some of this "cloud" knowledge and capability will make its way into the gaming division too since that's where everyone sees the games market heading too. (BTW Im a Cloud specialist and evangelist in my day job)

Some of the spin-off MMO stuff that has been hinted at is cloud gaming at its core, so dont throw the baby out with bath water just yet! Development no doubt has to be focused on the sequel as thats where the future revenue is. The core game engine as far as we still know is where a lot of focus is going and the sequel depends on this and CLOD will get the benefit of this in performance and functionality. As I have mentioned earlier in another thread, the sequel is probably a year away at best and all the development for the core engine will go into CLOD as patches.

So for me I guess I see another year of patches at least, why would they stop fixes for CLOD if they still have another year or 2 of funding for the sequel before its ready. They may as well keep feeding these improvements into the current game (testing) to make sure the sequel is a success when its launched.

So maybe we did buy a rough release version of what the final product will be, I dont mind, I have other interests and this is a passion so i look at it for the long haul and its now playable online and the offline campaigns by disastersoft are unreal. In anycase I wont let a game ruin my life!

Sure, It doesnt do everything well and theres still a lot on the wish list but the developers havent lost sight of this. The licensing and spin off of the assets will likely come in the form of the hinted MMO and a console port at some point too just like WOP/BOP. Im sure the bean counters have their eyes on this too as the payoff for getting it right. I bet my "lefty" thats why Oleg changed from OGL to DX and rewrote the game to be able to more easily spin off parts of it for other gaming avenues. (err.. revenues)
Well I don't know anything about the RU IT industry but it sounds like its doing well. Maybe I should learn Russian and pack up the wife and kids and head over there Yeah I can see that conversation going down well with the wife … lol

The "cloud" tech IS the natural evolution of gaming in my eyes, another favourite RU title of mine (but a FPS) is going down the exact same route in developing a free MMO, so I see it will become the norm in how future games are developed.

I don't know much about cloud tech other than how it works, but is that why .NET is being used in CloD? It would certainly make development and deployment a lot simpler for client updates.

Re other interests: Well I am guilty of being a bit melodramatic about CloD at times but then again who doesn’t want CloD to provide the same experience as the previous series? But I concur, it isn’t the only sim out there and I have my scuba diving too.

Re: another year or two of development funding, well if that is true, then I’d be happy with that, I haven’t read that anywhere but then again I probably have missed it, at least I know what to expect with CloD in that case.

I think many of the talented people left MG and it shows.

Actually I think its probably more likely the opposite. The game was more broken when released than it is now. Maybe the current programmers dont have the long association with the IL2 franchise but they were hired for a reason and seem to have made a lot of progress in a relatively short amount of time compared to the very long development leading up to the original release.

I think you guys are a just a little impatient. I understand though, its frustrating when something you love so much can be so damn annoying at times and yet so thrilling at the same time.

Patience grasshopper.. Dont mistake the defening silence for abandonment they are just busy and will get back to us when they have something to share after the office move.

Sounds all good Phat, but one week ago a russian player told me on TS3, that Luthier is in the USA, to find some sponsors! Then two or three days later we hear that the company is moving in another office!
Is the bottle half full now, or is it half empty?? Sounds for me that they are running out of money and Luthier is trying to safe the sinking ship! It's just what i heared, don't know if it's realy true!

Sorry if you think i was ironic. (I don´t know the meaning of "sardonic", sorry language barrier)

Regards

type the word you're unsure of into a search engine your broswer uses...

type it as " define: sardonic " without the quotes

Sardonic is "scornful or cynical mocking" (and as we all know, sarcasm is the last bastion of the cynic

This is not true.
They just moved into a bigger office. The old office was released to another department.

looks like the "lets make something up to illicit a response" game might be afoot
