Question Dedicated SSD...?

I plan to reinstall on my new rig, do I need a dedicated SSD for best performance or is ok to install Steam and COD on my C drive (Samsung SSD 830) where I have Windows 7 (64bit) as well?...your kind opinion please!

It is a good idea and your system will be much more faster compared with a normal harddrive.Althought you must be awre that a SSD has a limited number of write and read cycles so if you want to keep in " form" as longer as it can be possible you should only install programs you don't want to des-install for a long time.I have installed a second hard drive ( 1 tera) where i do all the rest ( download from internet, install and des-install games or program ..... In fact i have almost only window 7 and cliffs on my SSD .
hope my opinion will help you .

Here is what I did..

In light of the fact that most SSDs are small in size (unless you spend big bucks..)

What I did was install just the OS on the SSC which is drive C:\

Than on my second bigger NON-SSD drive D:\ I install all my games there..

If your like me, you may have several games installed, but only play one or two of them frequently..

If so, than you really need to get this cool little utility called STEAM MOVER

http://www.traynier.com/software/steammover

In short, the way it works is you install all your games, not just the STEAM games into the same directory on your NON-SSD drive..

On that note, during the STEAM install you have to select a different dir.. If not, than do what I do and simply install all your non-steam games in the steam directory. Otherwise you have to keep chaning the directory the STEAM MOVER ap is looking at, and it wants to just look at the STEAM game install dir! So I just caved and isntall all my games into the default STEAM game install dir

Than using this utility you move the game(s) you want to play over to your SSD drive..

Granted there are other ways and manual ways to do this, but this little util works so good I just use it!

One thing I do, is move said game back to the D drive before applying any patches. Not sure if it is nesarry, but I do it just to be safe

Rather than purchase and ssd, run clod from ram. Below is a link on the forum disusing such and links to the two apps you will need. Ram is faster than ssd.
