Exhaust smoke

I accidentally reloaded an older patch the other day , and I think Steam automatically updated back to the new one. I now notice , the Exhaust smoke when throttling up and down is gone , along with the flames out the exhaust stacks .Is it just my game or has everyone's changed? If It's just mine is there a way to restore the effects?

I am having a similar problem, it not my rig struggling so am at a loss to explain why, anybody able to help?
