Agreed, the 109 did sound better in the previous patch,I think it was one of the things that the majority of us had agreed on I thought, and we were full of praise for it.I can remember loads of us commenting on here how good it was.
Why then the devs decided to change it God only knows, are they really reading the comments on this forum?,one would have to wonder. ![]() It's not rocket science to realise then, why the patches are taking so long to come to fruition.........they're wasting time IMO on the stuff that could be left alone.

Not just the sound, the whole game is in beta, or even alpha because I've seen more polished and complete betas... I wonder if it'll ever go gold...

It's possible that the change in the 109s sound is a bug as a result of the changes to the Spitfire / Hurricane sounds, applying it to the DB engine as a mistake. We'll have to see.

Did the E model 109 not have that distinctive "whistle" noise the later models did? You could barely hear it in that video. I've seen a later model fly at an airshow and you can really hear that cool whistle as it flies by. What makes that noise the supercharger or turbo? I don't really know.
I don't have the new beta patch but loved he old sound of the 109 so I hope they can keep it. Doing flybys was so much fun! |

It's from the hydraulic coupling on the supercharger I do believe.
109s were not turbo-supercharged.

I believe its the supercharger, and its probably more distinct than in other planes because it operated on the side of the engine, so the intake is very short and does not shield so much of the high-pitch noise its making, as in most fighters which typically mounted the supercharger deeper in the structure, behind the engine.
Though come to think of it, IIRC the Mustang has similar 'whine' on flybies..

One thing that did not need any improvement and they loose precious times on (poor) modification ?!!!
Where is that face-palm picture ? I need it NOW! Last edited by TomcatViP; 05-18-2012 at 12:18 AM. |
