Careful there. You just might break his CID ( CloD Is Dead ) routine.

the controls are safed in the 1c softclub folder,if you have safed them to a file.if you load it, then it will overwrite the conf.user file.so if you are clever, safe your controls first before deleting the 1c folder, and put the file somewhere else prior to deleting....

some squad members experienced better performance and less crashes after they have deleted the whole 1c folder.they just installed the patch, ran it a couple of times and then deleted the whole folder.it will be rebuilt with the next launch.

Steam often automatically checks if your files are synched with the official version. So it might be doing the rollover without your knowledge.

To do it: Right click the game in the steam library list, go to Properties, then the "updates tab".

There are two options here, steam cloud which backs up all your configs and automatic updates which means you can turn off automatic patching (or sometimes it reverts your version of the game). You will want to turn them back on when the patch goes to release version on steam.

I tried ( after several disappointing manual installs ,)to try a fresh one with your suggestion that I extract directly the patch to the correct steamapps folder.I do not know why this could make a difference but it seems on first glance to given my a few more FPS & smoothness close to ground.I did uncheck grass, but kept shadows as I think they are the best thing about the sim.
Mind I still have other problems that others have and may go back to the standard default install because of faulty interiors & non working customize aircraft screen, but I'll try this for a while ,untill next beat or the real thing comes along...
Do you think I should go thru myConfig file too as suggested?
