HOWEVER ... when the Ivy Bridge CPU's finally come out (supposedly in about a month) the Z77's will suddenly be the flavor of the month (at least amongst those that can afford an Ivy Bridge processor)

Exactly, I have a "cheapo" Asrock H61-HVS motherboard, costs about 40-50€ and the cool thing is they've released a BIOS update for it that makes it Ivy Bridge CPU compatible. I've got a i3 cpu right now and it's absolutely awesome! but the time will come when you'll need at least 4 cores for gaming and then I'll just upgrade to a ivy bridge CPU which will be much cheaper in a year or so.
