Even though the release probably was a desperate move doesn't mean it was the right move. I have to agree with the OP to a certain level.

The game wasn't even close to finished at release and still it's being defended. It doesn't matter if it's been mentioned a hundred times. It's still the fekkin truth.

I gotta say. Flightsim communitys are the pickiest in the world but god are they forgiving when it comes to defending the genre they love.
Oh... I thought the years of developemental updates showing virtually all the features we see today with a big "WIP" stamped on them showed me the sim wasn't finished. Words like "place holder" and "not optimized" really rang my bell back then. I take it you never looked at the years of updates before buying? It's kinda like the same people that are crying over the tanks/AAA/vehicles, when Oleg was shown manning and firing a AAA gun 5 years ago, vehicles over 3 years ago.

Perhaps you should have paid attention to the years of updates? Or maybe you should have waited to purchase until some reviews were out? The writing was on the wall for a heck of a long time. The reason people like me defend it is because we know it's going to be supported just like the old sim was. That means the major problems getting fixed/finished etc. Just like the updates have said the dev team is working on.

Nothing was shown early that depicted the mess this game was in at release. The is a HUGE difference in performance issues, bugs or poor AI compared to features that doesn't work at all or even missing. They re-wrote parts of the GUI, they are re-writing the sound engine, radio commands, graphics engine and what not. Now show me one video or even a pre-view depicting that mess.
As i see it, all the WIP was indeed the final product. If it was so they should have stamped it final, not WIP. Period!

Meh, much ado about nothing, really.

I'll ask the same question that I often ask in MMO-forums when people toss out an "OMGZ IM LEAVING!"-thread: Why not just go silently into the night? Few people care what your reasons for leaving are, and most of us have heard them a million times before.

I'll leave you with the following statement, that has rung true far, far often than not:

/arnold-voice

You'll be back

Bye, don't let the door hit you on the way out...

Maybe you should watch the news once in a while and put things in perspective!

OH THE MANATEE!!

There`s one good side to this. I get to finally see his idiot face and tell to myself "yeah, I thought you looked like that"

Very mature....

Can everybody just calm down here and take a minute to think? Pupo is clearly a fan of the series just like anyone else here. Why otherwise would he put up a video where he pours his heart out about a game series that he loves? Yes it's only 70€ but that's not what it's about, it's about being passionate about something (IL-2 series in this case) and caring about it, nobody gives a poop about 10, 40 or even 70€! It's sad to see the community come to this, fans p*ssing on fans. It's a whole lot about expectations too, some people expected more from a new series (including me) whilst some would've been happy purchasing a brick with a 1c sticker on it and then defend it to death. Maybe pupo is just a kid but at least he showed considerable more maturity than most of you who replied in this thread, feces slinging 4 year olds you are. You really have to p*ss on everyone who doesn't share your exact opinion don't you? What are you "people" thinking anyway?! "Ahaa! that person doesn't enjoy this game as much as me! that is not acceptable and he must be told his opinion is wrong!" Bigots.
