Default Securom & patches.

Hey guys,

I just built a new machine, and this one has Windows 7 64-bit.

I finally got my game to install. It took over 2 hours, using a.exe. Game would time out when trying to read the DVD, upon starting. I did the Securom download, let it search, and download the updated files. The game will now start, although intermittently. It's the luck of the draw. I live in the U.S., and I don't remember ever having to have the DVD in before, on my XP machine. Did it have something to do with the 10.1 patch? Is there a fix for it? I really don't like putting all the wear & tear on my DVD drive, and I would rather leave my DVD in the case, where it's safe. For those of you who know me, and know that I have had this game for several years now, if there is a fix for this, please PM it to me. Thanks.

I used to fly as 99th_Monty.

Please don't ban me for asking. Everyone who knows me, knows I have a legal copy of this game, and I am not a video game pirate. Thanks.

I just tried launching the sim again this morning.....no go.

I would REALLY hate to have to do the Securom analysis stuff every time I want to launch this sim.

Hi

Just in case you haven't already done this >>

Install IL2 1946 to a folder on your hard drive not into the programs folder/s

eg: C:\IL2\

Patch order from DVD is 4.08m>4.09m>4.10m>4.101m

Turn off UAC

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/975787

Run the Securom analyser again if your still having problems.

Thanks.

I have it installed in D:/Games

I installed the mega patch.

UAC is off.

I have run the analyzer several times.

The game starts when it wants to, which is not very often. Very frustrating.

What a lot of people do is try and get a US copy of the DVD as it does not have securerom.

Securerom is rubbish and should never have been shipped.

The GoG download version does not have Securerom and has solved installation issues for everyone I have told about it. It will work with Win7 64 bit.

Code:

The Megapatch should work just fine to bring the GoG version up to date but if it doesn't for some reason here is a patching guide at M4T.
