Default Never a decent sale

IL-2 Sturmovik: Cliffs of Dover has been on my steam wish list for months now and in all this years steam sales so far not one time has this game gone on sale for a price I would consider reasonable which going by the steam forum I would say around £5-10. I got Wings of Prey for five pounds and I'm really happy with it.

£20 for a game that seemes to me like it was released unfinished is just ridiculous I was considering buying the collectors edition from the Ubishop for £15 but like most things Ubisoft that doesn't work either and all I get is "Payment Authorisation Failed". I've tried 2 bank cards and 2 credit cards and Paypal nothing worked.

Ubisoft are always complaining about the PC platform .. well maybe if their shop actually worked or they had some decent sales on steam they would sell some PC games rather than decide to cancel and focus on rubbish console games.

Thanks for your reply.

Do you buy a key from them or the boxed copy?

In regards to other games sold on that site I read that there is a limit of 3 activations; this is a problem for me because I like to re-install windows every few months. Do you know if you can deactivate a game to free up one of the 3 times or is it once you've installed the game 3 times thats it? like with Crysis: Warhead which is just stupid because it encourages piracy.

It doesn't look like CoD is going on sale today on that Get Games site unless they follow US times which means another 5 hours or so till midnight.

Does it really matter what the sim was realeased like for you? I would have thought the current state of the game would be what matters? Depending on what your into COD is either fantastic or unfinished.

I have had some of the most immersive online sorties in COD. Other people are lamenting the lack of the original IL-2 co-op interface. I've had a very smooth run, others have had a bad time with bugs and launcher crashes. It's a bit of a mixed bag really.

Is the sim worth it? (I bought the Collectors edition at $120AUD on release plus a steam download that I've passed on to my brother) From my POV it's the best money I've spent. Your mileage may vary!

When I bought the downloaded sim from Ubisoft was $20AUD more expensive than getting it directly from steam. It's worth shopping around.

AnyHoo, have a safe and happy cristmas and New Year!

I agree with the above statement. Bought it for 60/80$ just the day it was released and hve no regrets. I might hve flown btw 60 to 100hr and this makes the hourly price for so much fun at only 1$/hr.

It does not mean that I will agree to pay that price if I will hve to play that game for years, but considering the real innovation this game has blown on WWII sim I am happy with the deal.

Ok that sim is not perfect but they hve worked hard and with honesty to bring it back to a level where we can play it and get some sort of satisfaction (a big salute to all the online server admins that hve also worked hard to reach that level).

Let say it frankly if Microflop had owned 1c probably they wld hve canceled all the fm and copy paste all the the old IL2 FM to get an easy and fast selling product (I don't care much after the graphics).

So that far we had a balanced result. Way out of perfection... but enjoyable and most of all : promising.

Of course, as many here I am expecting the standards to be raised for the next opus ... and some sort a modesty in the pricing.

It's abit silly though to release a game in a unfinished state; Yes it's very important that they support the game and it looks like they have released a couple of patches for it. However they sort of shot themselves in the foot by releasing a game in the state it was because reviewers don't review a game after 5-6 patches they review what is in the box on day one and it got low scores because of it.

It was the same with ARMA 2 when that first came out it was terrible to I held off buying it and waited for a decent sale and last christmas I brought it and I am really happy with my "mostly" fixed purchase.

The point I am trying to make anyway is that you wouldn't buy a new car from someone who told you that the car doesn't work great at the monent but in a few month's I will send you the parts to fix it.

I like to read forums and reviews and then make my mind up about buying games and in this case I dicided to hold off and wait for those parts and a decent sale.
