My most simple idea: Go to the ingame graphics-options and set them all to low, then back to perfect. That way you practically reset the other options related to the settings.
If that doesn't help, it would be best to post the OpenGL-Part of your conf.ini or you can send me a PM with your email, so I can send your my conf.ini-file and you can compare both.

What Operating system are you running?
Did you try il2setup.exe? Also, you need to exit the game and then you can edit conf.ini Only one program can change conf.ini at one time. notepad OR the game OR il2setup If you edit conf.ini with notepad use SAVE and do not use SAVE AS. - the last will try to add a .txt extension and that is very easy to miss. After you saved conf.ini close notepad then start it up again and check your changes are still there. Under XP/Vista you might need to take ownership of conf.ini - search help for ownership.
