Default Just reinstalled: WOW!

I removed CoD from my PC a few months back. It didn't look great or run great and I needed the HDD space.

I just reinstalled today to see how the patches were coming along..... And all I can say is WOW!!

The landscape. The sounds. It looks and sounds so much better the change is incredible!

I still have performance issues.... But I think they're more down to my PC now than anything in the sim (old PC, running Win XP 32-bit. Can't afford to upgrade). Although I still can't fly over London (lack of RAM on the part of my PC I'd guess..... FPS will suddenly drop then CoD freezes and crashes), I can now tweak the GFX setting so that flying anywhere else is smooth as silk.

It looks better. It sounds better.... And most of all it "feels" better than it did.

Ilya and the team have dome great things so far with CoD. Compared to what it was at release it's a whole new game!!

Very happy (...... You may have noticed!! )

Edit: Meant to ask:

One minor thing that is a little bothersone is that the area under my plane (square in shape) is outlined with a thin black border. I'm guessing it may be the boundary where LOD levels change since the square gets smaller the higher I climb. I'm running an nVidia GTX260 768MB GFX card with up to date drivers (as far as I know!). Has anyone else had this problem and if so have they found a cure for it?

Heya Jester.

Hook me up on Steam friends... been a while.

I fly pretty regularily with a few other guys on ATAG so if you want to hook up in MP keep a look out for me.

I think you have aniso-filtering or mip-map level changed in driver settings. Set aniso- to application-controlled. Try playing with other driver settings too or set everything to default.

Thanks Ataros, I'll look into that.

Hey d0o0m. Nice to see you mate!! I won't be online most likely. My back still keeps me from being able to sit infront of the PC for long enough for an online session..... Still need that offline pause function I'm afraid! If I do get online at some stage though, I'll give you a shout (time zones permitting!!)

I reinstalled aswell, yestarday . still a slideshow for me . lucky to get 1 frame a second at times But i wont moan i only paid £8 ,so ill try again in a couple of months .... The reason is mainly my fault . i will only play the game if it looks better than modded il2 so refuse to play low graphics . So back to IL2 for me

Edit ::: I know its my GPU before anybody tells me .

tanker 21, looking at the system specs in your sig, I'm not sure why it's so bad for you. To compare my rig is as follows:

AMD x2 240 @2.8GHz
nVidia GTX260 896MB
2GB Corsair DDR RAM
On board sound (AC97)
Windows XP Pro 32-Bit

Whilst I am running at medium/low settings and can't go near London (Freeze then crash most likely due to lack of RAM) I get very smooth gameplay over any other area of the map.

I have the same GPU as you and the game runs fine for me. I don't have grass or ssao checked, but everything else is set near max. It drops to maybe 30fps or so when attacking big bomber formations.

Setting up a custom profile in radeon pro helps quite a bit.

sounds good buddy - keep in mind of course that a quick sortie out of France on the ATAG server usually lasts about 30minutes before your ammo is expended on a bomber flight or you have tossed up enough with some ambitious Jerries.

Look for me on steam and I'd be happy to fly with you for a quick sortie.
