Buy it now.

After flying Cliffs Of Dover i find it difficult to go back to IL2 1946.

Flying in Cliffs of Dover just feels very realistic.

almost free ? got url ?

there were a few good sales on a couple of websites but they only lasted a couple of weeks afaik, and none available now (or likely before xmass again ?)

its basically at full price still most of the time, with some variation in prices between different countries

check your planned system specs and OS upgrades; your hardware (video card) and see how it stacks against other poster's (look around / search da forum).

Pay attention to see if your video card / system set up is a 'red' flag* hardware . And you have to make sure the posts you compare to, people have the current patch . . .

*specific brand / model that has known issues with CLoD

Then if you feel your system can stack up, go for it. It is research and work but given the nature of the game's development, it'll only help.

Sorry mate but don't be such a sheep and follow others so much. Personally I got the game on release. That was my choice, no one else's. I knew the game required a good rig so for a year before release I started buying parts for a new pc (most expensive parts were brought second hand to minimize cost). I've enjoyed the game from the first day(how long has that been) and am pretty up to date with it's development of flight/damage model.
The longer you wait the further behind your skills will get and the more fun you will miss out on. Hey and if you don't like it then you have the right to leave it on the shelf and get a life.(attempt at hummer not an insult)

I say buy it, it does have it's issues but get into a turning fight with those shadows moving over the cockpit and you will forget all about them.

Anders- what settings are you able to run with your GTX280, and do you happen to have any video posted (I am planning to upgrade from XP and hope to see improvement in graffic and FPS with my GTX280). I can have graffics maxed over water but to get good FPS over land I have to make ground detail look like it's from the 90's version of Microsoft Combat Flight Simulator 1.

I say buy it now, and if you want the development to succeed, buy it from Steam, it may be more expensive but atleast the developer might see more profit from that sale. Buying the sim cheap may be fine for you in the short term, but not healthy for the genre in the long term.
