Dear forum users,
I just made this account so i could ask u a question, i dont know if there is a thread for this so i decided to make an new thread. If there is a thread for this, please dont get mad at me or something.. Also i`m dutch so dont pay attention to my bad english. After a year or so, not playing Il2 1946. I installed it and pached it up to 4.10.1. I started to edit some airfields and flew some missions when i found a problem. When i fly above planes (friendly or enemy) if i get a hight difference of about 600m. The text above the plane disappears. it seems to get behind the landscape. Tried to make some screenshots of it: ![]() Here you can see how the text is starting to disappear. ![]() And now its gone. Could somebody tell me how i can solve this problem? Thanks, Jones |

I suspect you're using DirectX/Direct3D. Don't use it unless you absolutely half to.
IL-2 1946 has an engine that was written in OpenGL. The Direct3D version of the game has a few notable bugs (including that one) and has fewer features capable. OpenGL is also the only mode that allows for the improved "Perfect" rendering mode which is much more visually stunning although less so by today's standards.

Hello IceFire
I adjusted the settings in the video mode screen. I selected OpenGL instead of DirectX. I noticed that the sky looked much more realistic. There where no `lines` but one nice integral scene. Then i tryed the same set-up as the screen shots above, and voila the text doesnt disappear anymore! So many thanks for your help! Greetz, Jones |
