The IL2 forums are so popular because all the other forums everyone is busy playing the game, and with IL2 everyone is to busy posting on the forums

That and tweaking the game trying to get it to run smoothly. Don't get me wrong, I really enjoy the game but perfect it ain't. After almost eight years it's still not a game you install and just play. It takes a lot of trial and error to get it running right, IMO. I appreciate the difficulties of setting up a game to run on many different computer systems and I appreciate the many patches we've gotten over the years to correct problems. Hopefully BoB:SoW will run great out of the box. I'll believe that when I see it.

Default Tweaking

The ability to tweak and tune the iL2 series sim/game straight from the box to suit you system hardware and drivers only illustrates the flexability Oleg and his Team have allowed the consumer.
I have tried other sims/games and found although the performance has been generaly ok some can`t be tweaked to give the best overaul performance quite like this simm.Tech support and fellow simmers have realy helped in this and I am sure reccomended setups for your hardware ,O/S and ATI or iNvidia card will be available on BoB release. So many combinations of hardware and O/S are possible to build a rig I am glad that we have not been tied to an out of the box configuration whether we like it or lump it.
Mission Builder has made me do a lot of research into WW1/2 History as it has with many enthusiasts and I have grown to appreciate and respect the sacrifices and courage of the people who served during those times. It opened my eyes to many conflicts that sadly the education system during my school days neglected .
I sincerely hope many youngsters will also find this out as they get involved within the communities activites and realise the freedom and liberty they have today was paid for by our forefathers at a great cost to so many.
My Father seved on the RN Aircraft Carriers in the Pacific and landed US troops on the beaches of Guada Canal,One uncle was capured at Dunkirk and spent the duration of the war in a work camp in Rumania whilst another was on an RN escort with the Russian supply convoys .My sisters father in Law was a Para dropped at Arnem .None of them talked about it but because of this simm I now know what they lived through and what they did for us .
Salute !

Actually this is not the case... My kid and his friends play a lot of other games on the net and there are not that many servers AND they are not that populated, compared to the IL2 'network'.

I think it's more of a case that there are so many IL2 players (and growing) that not everyone is playing at the same time. I think the 'attention span' of other games is not that great compared to IL2, resulting in this 'population longevity'

Well, .. that was worth a few BoB !
