All times developpers say sonic radar isn't in COD, the very bad bug in IL2 are in COD.

Developpers say sound isn't the same as il2, only check config.ini and see, all same. I wait long time only one switch to disable external sounds... continue waiting.

Not sure what the word 'many' means. Anyway, if there were indeed many WWII pilots who had been able to hear enemy aircraft, Erich Hartmann, the man with 352 air victories, would have been the top fraud in air combat history, instead of the top ace.

Quote:
Unlike Hans-Joachim Marseille, who was a marksman and expert in the art of deflection shooting, Hartmann was a master of stalk-and-ambush tactics. By his own account, he was convinced that 80% of the pilots he downed did not even realize what hit them.
"I opened fire when the whole windshield was black with the enemy…at minimum range…it doesn’t matter what your angle is to hit or whether you are in a turn or any other maneuver. "
— Erich Hartmann
Obviously, if Hartmann's aircraft could be heard by the pilot he was stalking, he would never have got so close to his victim - secretly.

First time hear it!!.

In RL, fly in DA-20 Katana (80hp) dont hear helicopter at 50m. Fly one plane >800hp wearing fly helmet and only hear our engine.

Head movements, antropomorfig controls, all steps to increase reality.. and enable sonic radar to decrease reality.

Please one switch to disable external sounds.

I can't understand why, regarding COD's sound engine, elimination of the tail sonar is not a high priority of the developers .

I'd like to add that although I have been a bit critical here, I still think IL2 COD is an outstanding sim, and I love it, otherwise I wouldn't have come to this forum. And certainly I'm not alone.

I strongly agree that this should be out of any serious SIM.

I would gladly turn off any sounds than having to hear this fantaisy
