Thinking how long it took to get a 4-engine bomber flyable in IL2:1946 (er, so far 'never' officially)....I think the Russian Front add-on will appear before this even sees the light of day?

Would be happy to be proved wrong, but I hope that some studios have already had access to the SDK and are currently building add-ons for US fighters, bombers as-well as German and other sides.

And the Martin Marauder, the only beautiful Allied WW2 bomber IMO

Hey Sven, who stuck the extra 2 engines on the HE177, its 2 engine bomber only.

Yes and no. Each 'engine' is in fact two mounted side-by-side, geared to a common propshaft. Not a very good idea, as it turned out. (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/He_177#Engines)

Until the AI crewmen actually do anything useful like navigate, aim the bombs, manage the engines or even call out a frikken sighting, multi crew aircraft will be a pointless experience.

And yes I know that you can "fly" the Blenheim. But if that's your idea of how this, or any aircraft actually behaved, well, then I'm looking forward to your entry of an Austin 7 at next years LeMans 24 hour race.
Hehe,you old optimist you ElAurens

TB-3 .............but yes, it took its time.

for all other things, it should be scenario related. The italian planes were already a waste of resources IMHO ! Yes, i know they were there, but so late, and with so negliable impact on the battle...few would have missed them i guess !

the most needed is a british bomber that can carry more than 1000lb of bombs. I think about a time some kind of "online war" will happen. And because it is already in game as external model, a Wellington is a natural choice, i guess. a second or third look inside the handling of radial engines in this game would be welcome for sure before

It was a good idea really, it could use already existing engines and it saved drag and other disadvantages of a 4 propeller setup. The engines in the prototypes caught fire due to overheating, this was fixed in the later production variants though with different engines and various other fixes. But just as they had successes the fuel was cut, and the bombers were to be grounded for the rest of the war in favour of the fighters.
