S!
Send crash dumps to luthier. It helps.

If you ever experience a crash, we want to see your crash dump! There is a
Cppcrash Folder under your main game install
([Program Files]\Steam\steamapps\common\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover)
Which contains a .dmp file for each game crash.
We’re very interested in those. Please forward them to
ishevchenko (at) 1cpublishing.eu
along with your system specs and the description of what you were doing at the time of the crash.
NOTE: we will be looking at all your crash dumps, but I may not necessarily be able to answer general questions or suggestions (while I do read them all)
Reinstall all programs from the "redist" folder.
C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\redist

Try reducing texture and shadows quality if you have less than 6GB RAM.

Really, does it help? I'm pretty sure that I haven't seen Luthier ever asking for them, or saying thank you.

Cheers

Read the luthier quote in my post. You can search for the original post if you missed it earlier.

At least 2 people from sukhoi.ru reported that they sent several dozen crush-dumps during Beta 2 and do not have crashes any more after the release. This is what the beta was for.

If you did not send the reports, your specific system issues were not addressed. The community is too small to expect someone else to do it for you. But sure do not do it if you expect a "thank you". There is no guarantee you get one.

Positive attitude and constructive action always helps. At least it helped those two people. It is your choice.

Yeah, sometimes he does. I'm not in the habit of posting private emails, but the content of his follow up with me is a matter of common information to this forum so I'm not compromising any confidentiality:

-----------------------------------------------------------------------

Thanks David,

Just in case you did not find it yet, we did release a hot fix for the explosion issue yesterday. It *can be found here:
http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=26761

Still checking the bail out thing. It was most likely caused by the same broken particle effects as the explosion, but if you encounter it again, please let us know!

Cheers,

Ilya

Hi Ilya,
*
Please find attached my latest PC crash with the latest 15866 beta.* I am currently using the recent Nvidia beta driver:* Both PC crashes*occurred while flying the Quck Mission Free Flight. The first occurred when I impacted a building in my Spitfire IIa, the second when I baled out of my Hurricane Rotol -- the plane was still in the air and had not yet hit the ground.
*
These are my system specs:
*
i7 920 @ 2.67 MHZ, Win 7 64-bit, 12 Gig DDR3, Nvidia GTX 560 Ti x 2 SLI, Microsoft Sidewinder FFSB2 joystick, CH PRO Throttle, CH Quadrant, CH Pedals, Track IR 5
*
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you need any further information.
*
Best regards,

Yikes..

Schmidt.. You better put your flame retardant suit on! Don't you know that there is a hand full of guys here that got stood up by Oleg on prom night?

Guys who spent $1,000+ on a prom dress that they never got to use and are now just looking for an opertunity to say something negative about CoD!

Take cover Schmidt.. You know the old saying 'hell knows no fury like a woman scorned'

Ataros, I really appreciate your work and enthusiasm. But some politeness and positive feedback from devs could help developing a more collaborative attitude from users. Not an individual thank you (who's so silly?) but a general statement to motivate us, ideally with a patch release. Personally I've already sent a dump file (no big issue, just a single CTD), but I had the same feeling of throwing a coin in the Trevi fountain, without the magic of Rome of course.

And the lack of a word of recognition for all those dump files made me think that they are actually useless.

Cheers!

Thank you Snapper, it's good to know that they actually work on the dump files. I'm so used to read BS by the devs that I start to doubt about everything they say.

Cheers!

Don't blame you, frequently I do, too. I was pleasantly shocked when I received that email from Ilya himself. It's too bad the promise of a Community Manager never came through -- he/she could've done a lot of good on these forums plus received a lot of detailed useful feedback on the game itself.

I've sent two crash dumps to him and both times I got a nice reply directly from Ilya the day after... I guess the chance of getting an answer may depend on if you send the dumps with detailed information that is useful for them or just mail a dump with no background information regarding steps to repeat it etc...

This version seems to work very differently for different people. Some still have serious problems. Like some with Nvidia cards.

The biggest issue I've noticed so far is that "radio commands" to AI wing men aren't working - haven't tested much yet - but flying single missions has an important piece missing. That's one thing I wish could be fixed in next patch.
