Objects still appear and disappear at the same distance as before.

By objects I mean houses, trees, ships etc.

Landgeom=3 only increases the view distance of the landscape itself (horizon), not the objects you mention.

Unhappy

I am in OpenGL mode, and in Perfect mode too.
I checked the difference between the various waether modes and with the two values for LandGeom, 3 and 2. I did the test with identical scenes.
Unfortunately I see really no difference at all.
So as a conclusion in my case it does not work.
But if it is true that this feature does not work for objects that have been put on the maps then I do not see the interest. We want to avoid to have the objects pop up as we fly. If there is no change for that then I do not see really what do we need it for.

Did you install the new *.dll files? You can run 4.09 without this capability if you only did a partial install (eg. for an ATI 9800 which seems to require the "HQ foam pack" dlls in order to render water in perfect mode)

Avimimus you were totally right. It was an issue with the new 4.09 dlls. Now it works for the two good weather conditions.

It gives an extra dimension as it opens the space and visibility becomes more realistic. On my full 24" screen the visual impact is great. On the Slovenia map it is impressive. And with the Nvidia 8800 Ultra with its 768 MB of memory the added graphic load has no impact on performance.

I fly often in the Swiss Alps and I can tell that when the weather is good and air is clear and cool you get 100 miles of visibility.
But if the air is hotter in summer time then you have more humidity and you get much less visibility.
I wonder how it was in the pacific where temperatures are high and it is humid. What kind of visibility you would get let's say at 10'000 feet.

I hope that BOB will have realistic visibility distance but also applied on all the object we put on the maps otherwise it is a half good thing.

I have not checked if there is an impact on the visibility of incoming aircraft.
