So I was getting whooped on syndicate, and I spawned a group of 2 myself and an AI wingman... I never could figure out how to get him to take off, he just sat there, he told me he was ready for takeoff but who knows...
Has anyone else done this? If you have, have you gotten him to do anything? Bliss if you read this, is that frowned upon, might be kind of cheesy spawning 3 AI wingmen... I could just see issues with it altogether, 30 people on the server, if they all spawned 3 wingmen would be 90 AI on top of what the mission already has, could bog down the server... Not that I could ever imagine that ever happening but as programming goes, you always have to account for that one a-hole who tries to divide by zero. |

I limited all the spawn points to 3 in the hopes that the AI coms will get fixed. Once it's working I'll probably end up limiting the fighters to 1 and having the bomber guys get 4 or 5. I think it would be kinda cool to be able to have 4 or 5 in heavies if you happen to be without a wingman. I just wonder if they'll drop bombs with you? Hopefully in the upcoming weeks we get a dramatic increase in performance and bug fixes. It would be nice to have a full 128 player server with only humans flying around. I'm on business right now and have the laptop (that will play IL2COD) I'm trying to work on a ground pounding mission (trains, tanks, vehicles etc.) in the attempt to try and organize some sort of massive online event (No AI planes!). Once I get all the details and realize how many fighters / bombers are needed for both sides, I'm going to set up a private forum for both red and blue separately, to discuss mission planning, pics of the map and objectives, and everyone's roles. And again, blue won't see what red is planning and vice versa. Passwords to the forum section will get emailed and so forth to those interested. This is something that's still a few weeks away, and sadly won't be a historical mission to begin with as I don't have the kind a time right now to do all the research required. But I think there's quite a few people out there like me that would want this sort of thing. There's no greater satisfaction IMO, than being part of a group trying to accomplish a goal, especially when everyone has discussed, in length, how we go about doing it. Ohhh yea definitely, I was poking around the fmb recently, there is so much there, not including scripts... I agree with you about the "having a goal," just the goal of trying to fly bombers over like we have been has been awesome. It would be even better with some sort of reward, other than the satisfaction of ruining someone's takeoff of course
![]() Things are only going to get better from here though. I have been very impressed with the almost nightly turn out, most nights there have been at least 40 people on the server, I can't imagine how crazy it will be with 100+ up at the same time. Keep up the great work Bliss, and don't have too much fun on your business trip. |
