Default Anti virus software advice

I'm a newbie at all this. Any advice on the best virus protection software to install on my new Mx11? I'm aware that some are better than others at not degrading system performance.

Thank you in advance.

Avast from Google is free. Most of my squad is running it.

After installing it go to Real-Time Shields -> Settings -> Exclusions and add both Steam/IL-2 folder and Documents/1C folder to Exclusions. Otherwise you would have stutters in game like many people do.

I use G-Data internet security and I have to say that I'm quite happy with it.
It doesn't use a lot of system resources and is yet very powerful and is really not expensive.
It is also known for very few false positives.

Kaspersky has a gaming mode and works well. Advisable to disable when loading some sim software though.

Do not use any of Norton's products, unless you like looking at egg timer icons for literally, hours...

I use a combo of ESET and MalwareBytes. ESET is very quiet and light weight AV. Not chatty at all and doesn't give me one bit of trouble.
