Hmm, I was leaning towards the CH option, however my desk is a corner desk with a sort of rounded curvy bit where I sit in the center. Not sure how I'd mount the thing.

It actually has two clamps underneath it that allow you to clamp it to any flat surface. Solid as a rock.

Default CH Throttle Quadrant

I just got the CH throttle quad and it's fantastic! No regrets. You have a lever for throttle, propp pitch, mixture, trim, just about anything you want..

Got mine at Amazon for 90 USD. However, did see a promo for 60 USD, but it involved getting a debit card so didn't bother.

After what seems like ages, I've made the plunge.

Purchased a new CH Throttle Quad. Should arrive within a week.

Nice. I agree with the cheapness of some of the Saitek stuff, although I really rate the Pro rudder pedals highly. They are set further apart than the CH ones so have a better feel. I've had mine for years with no problems.
