Yup that skyraider is broken. If you have to fly and land a plane with a large piece of wing missing, The skyraider is a good choice.

More pics, of the 51 this time

Again, Not my pics.

Note the whopping great hole inbetween the radiator and the tail section of the aircraft.

Edit: Sorry for clogging this thread up with masses of pictures, by the way!

I see this picture and remember Vietnam... a strong plane the Skyraider.

A shame the accident and the loss of the Mustang. Fortunately no loss of life

I read on my search, not sure about its validity, that one in the states crashed like this and is being straightened out - no idea how bad it is. He did say that they aren't hard to re build, just costly..

Maybe we can live in hope and fly a missing man formaition of 51's on BoP?

I can determin that that Mustang has become unserviceable.

Great bailout photos. Looks like the Skyraider violated the Mustang.

The wings and the engine on the P51 seem to be in good condition, the only noticeable damage being just behind the radiator.

WW2 aircraft have been through much worse and still made it home. Flaps/elevators look ok to. I'd love to know more about this particular accident as it looks at first glance like the P51 could of comfortably landed. Or at the very least glided into a field....

Is it just me that thinks this?

Maybe its an insurance job
