New to online multiplayer

Hi all

I have never played online untill today so I need some help. What I cant understand is when I fly in a spitfire for the Red team I have spitfires shooting me down. also how do I respawn at the moment I am exiting the game and rejoining to get a fresh aircraft is there a way round that. I hope someone can help.
