I'd be interested in hearing the reasons why you think this game is so shitty.

Gladly. First of all, it is sooo arcade. Other than that, the FM of every opponent has no turning limit, no black-outs and is even faster in any aspect than you - no matter what plane you're flying.
The enemy has always the advantage, no matter what altitude you try to gain and they can always find you, even in the pit black of night (when they are high above and you try to seek cover at the deck).
And the P-51 is totally broken - it climbs like a freighttrain and turns like ferry (that means not at all) and cant turn the slighliest to the left, not without snaprolling followed by an iminant total stall...
There's no feeling with the stick and the controls in game. I jerk and work with the joystick, but to no avail. The plane seems to have it's life on its own.
So yes, I find this game very bad...

I bet you're a single guy. Most of us who adore our "alternative life" online are married or shacked up ! We're very easy to please I guess !!! LOL

No seriously you're not getting the full picture. It's the comradeship, esprit de corps, the lads getting together, fannying around, laughing, joking, shouting, swearing, spitting, crashing, burning, dodgeing, weaving, ducking and diveing, f'ccking and skiveing. All that is what makes this game .... BEAUTIFUL.

Hmmm, this game doesn't bring all that to me. Il-2 sturmovik 1946 did and still does. And if I wanted comradery, I would have joined the army or a local soccer-club.
Being a nerd when it comes to games and authenticity(I LIKE SIMULATION!), well yes, that's me (but that doesn't make me single - I didn't get that part of ur answer and is definitely not single!).

But all those qualities you just mentioned, are likely to fit any well-build/modelled game (FPS'es, simulations and so on)...

First of all nice way to introduce yourself to the forum, I'm sure you've impressed the mods with your mastery of the fine English language in your thread title. You get put what you put into this game simple as. I would also thoughly recommend, I'd even beg that you get online and play and then decide how, and I quote 'shitty' this game is.
Edit: in hindsight actually don't bother stick to your PC.

It's on a console ffs.. If you're expecting IL-2 1946 or Cliffs of Dover style simulation then you're never gonna get it on a PS3 or 360.

If you want some fun and a rough idea what it was like, on a big TV in HD, for £20 quid, without having to spend £300 on upgrading your PC, then it's well worth it.

This game is a bridge between console gamers and proper PC sims so don't just slag it off. It will benefit the genre, what's the problem?

We're also waiting for the sequal to drop soon, 2 years after the first one, Cliffs of Dover took 6 years to develop.. They are clearly not the same animal.

I wasn't trying to push your buttons I just wanted to know if you were venting frustration or being sincere. You obviously have a hardcore sim background and I can understand your disappointment in the flight mechanics offered inBoP. There was a time for me as well when it was PC or nothing, but as I got older and now have different priorities. The PC I have now was purchased with my kids in mind and will not run a modern game and older games only on reduced settings. I appreciate what this title offers to the console market because without it the skies would be lost to us and maybe someday you will too.

Take care

StiC

Well, I do play it as Wings of Prey on the PC in lack of a better alternative - hopefully the CloD will one day be a true "killer-simulation" (might take years, though).
That said, I bet it's funnier to play this game online than offline (most games are). And furthermore, this game has indeed graphically features, that are far superior to that of the recent CloD graphics - I would so wish, that the terrain graphics from BoP, would be implemented into CloD (without the green filter, that is).

Believe u me, on the CloD forum, they're having hot debates wether the graphics exceeds those of the CloD. Well now you all know my point of view in this matter (I lke the former - BoP that is) and this "babbling thread" might in fact just be an expression of sheer frustration (BoP being prettier than CloD).
So, I apologize for my slightly obnoxious behavior. I still don't like the gameplay of WoP (BoP), though...
