Here is my Black Death track after the 5/18 patch and vsync enabled. I see much better improvement. I am running everything on max settings.

Exactly that. It looks very odd as a small video on a single screen. It looks pretty good playing on 3 monitors with a 5 foot span of display in front of you.

Still, CloD does not support widescreen really any better than IL2 did. The only difference is that you don't have to manually edit the config file in CloD. That is very disappointing, most newer games I've tried it with work beautifully. Iracing, for example, supports multiple monitors in a much better fashion.

Whew.... I'd hate to think of being on the gun station mid-position on top.

All that flak and shrapnel flying around.

I can't imagine being an RAF pilot so set on killing a bomber as to wade through all that flak.

Anyway, I ran it a 1080 full screen and it rendered great on my system.

Overall, that's a great proof of concept kind of video, Les. Really illustrates what's possible in this sim for the movie makers.

Too bad about the weird black harpoons flying everywhere. I guess that's an artifact from rendering slow and then speeding up the recording?

Thanks for the feed-back.

Was using a bit of artisitic license there, having the fighters in amongst all that. It did make me wonder though about how the fighters and anti-aircraft guns worked together in real life. I imagine there must have been overlaps here and there, and times when the pilots just had to back off even though they might have been more effective at stopping the bombers than the flak (and perhaps vica-versa come to think of it.)

Unfortunately, those bits of 'shrapnel' you see flying around aren't a result of how I made the video, but just a result of having so many flak bursts going off in one area. They're there all the time, but just aren't usually as noticeable when there are less of them flying around at the same time. I guess they serve their purpose of showing how much metal the flak-bursts throw off, but the way they're represented really should be more refined. Imo they just look too big and tend to fly too far at the moment.

Still, again, I think the video does show something of how full-on such missions were in real life.

In terms of the video showing what's possible for the movie-makers, the technique used to show things on this scale is actually a bit limiting. You get more graphical bugs than usual (pushing the game up to and past some of it's capabilities) and are mostly limited to doing once-off 'live' recordings of the action, making it much harder or even impossible sometimes to do things like cutting between different planes for example. I think some people would be surprised by just how complex and involved the process is behind showing even the simple straightforward kinds of action you can see in the video's I've made using the technique. Not saying it can't be used to make more traditional, story-based movies, but it certainly wouldn't be easy. I guess it would be similar to doing special effect shots in a regular movie, wherein setting up and executing such shots can take a huge amount of time and preparation and post-production work just to make them look like 'normal' shots...

Anyway, better leave it there, it's a video thread isn't it, not a talking about video thread.

As I recall the black streaks are supposed to be flak shrapnel.

Way overdone AFAIK. All the streaks do is clutter up the screen.

Better, if you saw nothing... My opinion of course

Someone probably spent alot of time creating that mess of flak streaks, and the devs don't want to let got of that feature. LOL

The flak explosions look pretty good, but too much of the same thing in apprearance.

Enjoyed the video!

The benchmark track that ran worst for me in previous patch was this one... so here's the video with the 1.01.14550:
