Hehe... just tried a little multiplayer with AliFish and got this:

Fairly sure it wasn't like that pre-patch!

Patch is very similar to the beta patch for me- much improved smoothness in offline play, with a slight increase in framerate.
However, I can't fly through clouds now without overpowering flickering- it's really over the top. Sounds keep disappearing at odd times.

Online is still an issue- framerate seems to be inconsistent (but not as bad as the beta), and sounds completely disappear at times. I've had a few major screen-freezes which i've not had before, and on servers with 'icons on' the arrows on screen are scrappy with bizarre lines running through them.

I noticed on the Black Death track the viewing angle is much larger- i can see a lot more of the action than previously.

Just played some MP tonight on the Syndicate server, game runs smooth enough for me on a mix of HIGH, LOW and ORIGINAL settings, scenery looked nicer tonight whilst flying around Britain (ended up in Brighton as I got lost lol).

The only downside I have are:

:: For the first time ever, the sound stopped in-game when I was flying, but came back on at the menu upon leaving the server (the menu music played).
:: Im using an ATI 5850, and I have the flicking land/sea issue other ATI users have over land (not a game breaker).

I was so busy looking at the FPS that i forgot how odd it was that the 109 made no sound...and then it did...and then it didnt I almost want to say its some king od lag regarding the sound files loading .

That is exactly what a USN sailor yelled over his shoulder as he and his mate came running full pelt out of a seedy looking alley in Hong Kong during a trip over their in the mid eighties.

I took his advice!

Well after spending $2,000 on a new computer to play this game I am about to shelve it I think.

Since the patch I am getting constant freezes now, (more so in ground strafing attacks with the Hurricane) and getting "the program is no longer responding" when exiting via the task manager.

I have been flying (the original) IL2 since it's conception and was always impressed with succesive patches and DVD releases.

However, I am completely flabergasted, initially, that CoD was in such an abysmal state for release and now it appears to be going backwards down a path of far less the mediocracy.

I know this is a negative post, but my faith is rapidly waning.

Additions: mirrors are a physadelic experience, alternating between jagged flashes, black and white checks, plain black and just blank.

Even though AA is not working, it keeps resetting itself to 2 x AA and I keep selecting 8 x AA.

Tried to get the wingmen to land first as someone else said this was the secret for the idiots crash landing next to me. That didn't work.

Flying low over built up areas now more stuttery than with the last beta, that wasn't really stuttery at all.

etc, etc, etc that I guess have been reported ad nauseum.

At least the new rig has improved RoF out of sight. I have everything maxed out in that and it is as smooth as silk.

We are the games official beta testers. Get used to it.
When it hits the US in June/July the game will be great
