I would definately appreciate the painsounds as for a more serious clue to that you are infact wounded.

I also like what team daidalos did with the latest patches implementing arm/leg hit and weaker control inputs from the struck limbs.

I would also like to see different visual effects, maybe something more dynamic than the boring red screen. Say you get hit, you get a more pulsating/blurred vision with some sort of sound to accompany it. You could also have bleeding implemented, creating need to return to base to survive. A wounded pilot would most likely also be a scared and discouraged pilot and could be modeled into AI so that they flee and disobey orders (or point out that they are hit and going RTB).

Also the death effect. A headshot should of course be an instant black screen. Perhaps with sound fading out rapidly (so people don't think the game has crashed). If you are hit in the chest or other places and wounded fataly, I agree, the camera should perhaps start wandering back and forth in the cockpit, even down against the floor as you fade out, and fade back in again.. I believe Aces High II had that effect. As you fade out, sound is also blurred out and dampened and control inputs are non-existing. This way, you could be on final approach and fade out, waking up just before slamming into the ground.

It would be a nice touch

In the future...
