TS3 sound problem

Solved (in case others have it too), there’s an option under Control Panel > Hardware and Sound > Manage Audio Devices > Communications > Do nothing
that stops the input from one program being 80% muted when comms comes in from another.
Also, an update to the Steam software (not the game) may have helped.
