Credit where credits due, a marked improvement and now virtually no micro stutters, fps can still drop to awkward levels over London, but it is flyable now.

I have to echo the sentiments that changing gauges and the fm to placate a few people is not the way to go. Imho, a sim has to aim for as near perfect fidelity as possible, and changing things so they are easier (at the greatest difficulty setting) or more balanced for both sides is a might odd and disappointing. However, I do understand the need for a solution so that the sim does not become marginalised due to its fidelity putting it out of reach of the majority.

As a qualified pilot, it would be easy for me to demand others learn to fly and manage engines correctly to enjoy the sim at its best. However, I then think back and can remember a few awkward moments during training where I would scratch my head and need a double take, and that was with the help of qualified instructors guiding me along the way. It's perhaps a little much to expect the same from hobbyists, unless it is their want to take fidelity to its greatest extremes.

Perhaps another level of abstraction could be introduced at some point in the future, allowing a more gradual shift into complete realism along the lines of the system used in rof or fsx, where the user has greater control over the level of realism.

Anyway, its good to see things heading in the right direction, I shan't spend any great time with the sim until FFB is added, but that is a personal decision lead by my current hardware, as I am not particularly interested in the current workaround for using ffb sticks in game.

Great work, mine is stutter free with all max settings at 2560x1440 fullscreen at around 45fps airborne, very smooth indeed.

I too prefer the gauges the way they were, the spitfire compass is great.

If you wanted to have mechanical tachometers, and researched and implemeted them properly, you should leave them untouched, just because some ppl complain is no reason to provide us with electrical ones if there were none present at that time.
Same as with the emergency gear air chamber:
just let it be how you researched and implemeted it, because that is the way how it behaves(or how it can be simulated in the most realistic way).
I mean why do you care if some folks are pissed because their gear failed..

give this gorgeous simulation that finish, that it deserves as a realistic ww2 air combat sim and successor to il2.
don't make it easy because some complain. not when you yourself researched and are confident that your work is "representational" of these old machines.

in fact, you should not listen to me now, too
but I mean you sure get the point.
(look at the colour saturation discussion. the majority wants it how YOU as devs made it. they just want it finished. if a tachometer bounces, because mechanical tachometers do bounce, it bounces. no need to change it )

kind regards,
tranq

Maybe it could be a 'realism option' ... bouncy needles or digital needles?

Thanks anyway for your amazing efforts.

Good idea, but i think you can add besides the "bouncy needles or digital needles" a HUD and HUD + Bitching Betty for those who can't spend time looking at the needles

Give us back the complicated compass, real negative g cut out limits and mechanic gauges!!!
I am brand new to the forum and the game but I have to agree....let's make it realistic at least as an option

Adjuster
Adjuster, try deleting all the files found in "\Documents\1C SoftClub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover\cache" except the shaders folder, then delete the contents of the "shaders" folder too. This includes any .dll files, do not worry, the game will generate whatever files it needs when started again.

I cannot guarantee this will help, however, doing this allowed me to bypass launcher crashes after the last beta patch.

Just made a couple of flights and I must say that you guys have done a great deal of work here, even noticed that the buildings didn't pop up in the same way as before, much better now.

Big thank you! And looking forward to the full patch on Monday.
