S!

You can make a back-up of the game in Steam. OR you can first extract the patch in a folder, check which files/folders it has and copy originals to a safe place

I run a

QX6800
8GB RAM.
XFX 8800GTX

Never had any trouble running any game on maxed out settings, but Il-2 COD runs at an awful 2 to 5 frames per second. Even though I'm above the recommended specs. The beta patch didn't fix anything for me.

It's so unplayable I'm going to put my CH-joystick setup back in the closet until everything is fixed. I'm thankful for 1C releasing COD, though. Let's just iron out those bugs (of which I didn't know until I bought the game).

Firstly only getting a slight inprovement in fps up high but at ground level there is still stuttering in graphics. My settings are 1680x1050 at medium settings. The game is playable but needs further improvement.

My main concern atm is Multiplayer I had it working fine until the patch. We do not have a Menu anymore to change planes and spawn new aircraft.Once i get in on the mission i can only look from the outside. I can not spawn in any aircraft.

my specs
windows 7 64bit home premium
intel dual core 6850
4 gb ram
gigabyte nvidia 560 TI 1gb ram
xfx 680 lt motherboard

thanks and goodluck with the next patch

a possible point to note : whilst iam applying this patch for testing iam noticing that within steam, IL2 is "always" reverting back to the keep me updated setting, every time i set it & launch the game & exit i have to reset it again. on many occasions i have noticed the small steam box "steam has finished updating IL2. im sure this is causing some anomolies when testing.

I noticed the same. At least the Cloud setting stays as you set it, i.e. off. The idea of having two rigs running CoD and sharing a config is amusing.

Wouldn't it be of more use to accompany your findings with a log file like this?

Might make it easier to compile statistics.

Click small icons on map. Create/select planes commands are accessible through them.

Use JSGME. There are a few utils all gamers should know about and use. This is one of the most important of them.

right click on your game in steam-select properties-select update and click on verify game cache. It will revert it back to original game.

When offical patch comes out its signed so you wont be able to revert this way.

the new beta-patch very slightly improved my performance ingame.
Nevertheless i get very good fps rates in all situations:

config:

AMD Phenom II X4 955 3,2GHz
4GB RAM
Asus HD6950 2GB RAM

Game config:

anti-aliasing: 8x
model-detail: full
effects: full
damage-model: full
trees: very low
buildings: few
shadows: off

any other details level on "mid"

resolution: 1440x900

FPS over Water with 12 planes: between 90 and 120

FPS over ground with towns: 50 - 80

well, this is very acceptable for me and i think that it depends to 90% on the graphics card that it is running so well. So as the already mentioned in the manual, that u need the latest hardware by 2011, u mainly need to upgrade ur graphics card to get acceptable playable fps . thats the main spot u should consider.
The game itself is great and evertime i shoot a spit/hurri my breast fills with pride (flying under 95% realistic conditions).

i only can go down on my knees before the 1c team for doing such a great game and i'm sure that it will be better and better with every new patch!
